Corn farming training in top corn producers provinces in Central Visayas

Cebu is the top producer of corn in Central Visayas, while Negros Oriental comes next after Cebu. Next to rice, corn is the second staple food for us, Filipinos. Households in the rural areas engage in corn production for their own consumption. However, increase of corn productivity has always been the primary concern in every agricultural development effort.

25 AEWs complete TOT on Rice Production, Seed Certification, and Farm Mechanization in NegOr

Central Visayas - Twenty-five participants were trained on a 12-day intensive Training of Trainers (TOT) on Production of High Quality Inbred Rice, Seed Certification, and Farm Mechanization. The training was held on 15 – 26 March 2021 in Bayawan City, Negros Oriental. The training was a combination of face to face and online lectures.

Launching of Farmers Field School on Vegetable Production in Alburquerque

Bohol - On 12 and 16 March 2021, two batches of launching for the Season-Long Farmers Field School (FFS) on Vegetable Production were conducted by ATI Central Visayas. The said activities were both conducted in Cantiguib, Alburquerque, Bohol in coordination and collaboration with the Municipal Agriculture Office.

MOET mobile app – an innovation on rice nutrient management

Central Visayas – the Agricultural Training Institute has conducted a series of one-day technical briefings on how to set up the Minus One Element Technique (MOET) Kit and how to use the MOET mobile Application. These briefings were conducted in six batches: March 2-3, 2021 in Bohol; March 4, 2021 in Negros Oriental; March 9-10, 2021 in Cebu; and March 12, 2021 in Siquijor.

Boosting organic agriculture in Bohol

Tagbilaran City – A three-day Provincial Training of Trainers on Organic Agriculture was held in Tagbilaran City on March 9 – 11, 2021. It was attended by different organic agriculture focals from 18 municipalities of Bohol: Albur, Antequera, Balilihan, Bilar, Carmen, Calape, Dagohoy, Danao, Dimiao, Duero, Guindulman, Loon, Pilar, San Miguel, Sevilla, Talibon, Tubigon and Ubay.
