The Agricultural Training Institute is one with the entire Department of Agriculture (DA) family in the celebration of the Farmers’ and Fisherfolk’s Month. With the theme, “Magsasaka’t Mangingisdang Pilipino, Saludo ang Buong Bansa sa Sipag, Tibay, at Lakas Ninyo,” the Institute recognizes the invaluable contributions of our farmers and fishers in nation-building.
To help market the products of our farmers and fisherfolk in the metro, the DA launched a month-long AgriTiangge. Likewise, the event aims to bring affordable and fresh food closer to consumers.
On May 6, 2019, AgriTiangge officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and tour of exhibits. Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol recognized some farmers, fishers, poultry growers, livestock raisers, and high value crop producers, among others, during the opening program held at the DA compound in Quezon City.
To culminate this month’s festivities, the DA, together with its bureaus and attached agencies, will recognize the significant contributions of rice producers and extension workers in the country. On May 30, 2019, the 2018 Rice Achievers Awards will honor outstanding provinces, municipalities/cities, irrigators’ associations, small water irrigation system associations, agricultural extension workers, and local farmer technicians for their performance in increasing the yield and improving the quality of rice in the past year.
