BAGUIO CITY—To collectively enhance data presentation through the Rice Crop Manager (RCM) Advisory Service, involved key agencies gathered for the RCM User Database Workshop.

Some 15 participants from the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI); Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Offices in the Cordillera Administrative Region, Region I, and Region III; and the Agricultural Training Institute attended the activity. They provided significant inputs to further develop the RCM Advisory Service, particularly the RCM Statistics.

The RCM Advisory Service is a unified information service system for rice-based farming in the Philippines.

A series of workshops was conducted to improve the contents of the database, as well as the monitoring and evaluation component. Participants also pointed out issues and concerns on the use of the database, including the information that will be available for the public.

Through the workshop, an improved database was developed with a new multi-device interface. Also, Rowena Castillo of IRRI discussed the key points of the Data Privacy Act of 2012, particularly Section 13 on Sensitive Personal Information and Privileged Information, as well as Section 16 on Rights of the Data Subject.

The RCM User Database Workshop was held last February 20-22, 2019 in Chalet Baguio Hotel in the said city.
