ATI OIC-Information Chief Ms. Pamela G. Mappala discusses the Philippine Action Plan for Family Farming during the pre-conference workshop of the Global Exchange Meeting.
MANILA, Philippines – The World Rural Forum (WRF) based in Spain gathered the National Committees on Family Farming (NCFF) around the world for a knowledge sharing on the processes and experiences in developing the National Action Plans on family farming. The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), as the lead agency for the NCFF in the Philippines, presented the Philippine Action Plan for Family Farming (PAP4FF) during the pre-conference workshop of the Global Conference on Family Farming at the Core of Sustainable Food Systems in view of the United Nations Decade for Family Farming (UNDFF) 2019-2028.
Dubbed as the Global Exchange Meeting of the NCFFs, the activity was attended by more than 100 representatives of the NCFFs from the different continents of the world. Since Philippines is one of the first few countries to come up with the National Action Plan, ATI OIC-Director Rosana P. Mula, represented by Ms. Pamela Mappala, OIC-Chief of the ATI-Information Services Division, presented the PAP4FF and shared their insights and processes in coming up with multi-sectoral commitments to the UNDFF.
The NCFF Global Exchange Meeting provided an avenue for the different countries to share experiences and reflections among the representatives about the key elements, as well as the critical points to promote policy dialogue and the implementation of the UNDFF at the national level.
The Global Exchange Meeting is within the framework of the online Global Conference on “Family Farming at the core of sustainable food systems” which takes place on November 23-26, 2021,. The online conference is designed to scale up the implementation of the UNDFF 2019-2028 towards more sustainable, resilient, inclusive, and viable food systems, contributing directly to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
