Diliman, Quezon City — Sta. Lucia High School adopts various meaningful and productive activities through webinars, in preparation for the Brigada Eskwela Program. These include their recently conducted “Urban Gardening: Gulayan sa Tahanan Project” last September 6, 2021.

The webinar was participated by 86 teachers, parents, and students. It was highlighted by the discussion on different gardening strategies and vegetable production practices that was facilitated by the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) through Jomar Tabor, Agriculturist of ATI’s Partnerships and Accreditation Division.

Specifically, Mr. Tabor talked about container gardening, vertical gardening, edible landscaping, and hydroponics; as well as preparation of soil mixture, organic pesticides, and organic concoction. He also presented other initiatives of ATI for urban agriculture, under the Department of Agriculture’s “Plant, Plant, Plant” program that the participants could take part in.

After the webinar, the participants received urban agriculture starter kits so they could immediately apply the knowledge they gained from the activity and start a simple garden in their respective homes or offices.
