57th FishCon Week Highlights Conservation, Protection of PH Aquatic Resources

Posted by:

To raise awareness on the conservation and protection of the country's aquatic resources, the Fish Conservation Week (FishCon) is observed every third week of September through Proclamation No. 316 of 2017.

This year’s theme, “Karagatan ay Pangalagaan upang Ani at Kita ay Makamtan sa Gitna ng Pandemyang Hamon sa Bayan,” encourages fishers and consumers to remain steadfast in protecting the fisheries and aquatic resources as the nation's food and the fisherfolks' income depend on the health of the seas.

As the country's lead in extension services and training, ATI ensures that the Filipino fishers are able to avail and maximize extension services designed to uplift their lives. ATI-certified Learning Sites for Agriculture offer advisory services, demonstrations, and information and training that help cultivate their attitude, skills, and knowledge.

The Institute also takes advantage of information and communications technology and creates an electronic and interactive access to information for the fishers. ATI has e-Learning and e-farming services, and knowledge resource centers spread throughout the country to provide easy access to agri-fishery information and technologies.

The celebration for the 2020 FishCon will be led by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources on September 14-18, 2020.

Extension services continue to evolve. With the challenges that extension workers and farmers face, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) continues to explore various strategies to improve its efforts as the extension and training arm of the Department of Agriculture. In over 30 years, the ATI has celebrated various successes and learned from the lessons during hard times. Nonetheless, we are proud to be standing the test of time through the support of our partners and the clientele themselves. This is the ATI Today, more committed to bring you extension services beyond boundaries.
