BATASAN HILLS, Quezon City—The Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) are pushing for more enterprise development opportunities in support to food security through its Urban Agriculture project.
ATI Officer-in-Charge Assistant Director Rosana Mula had this underscored during the launch of the project and distribution of starter kits under the DA’s “Plant, Plant Plant” Program in Barangay Batasan Hills.
Mula emphasized that apart from food production, the urban agriculture initiative aims to also assist various barangays in Metro Manila to have additional entrepreneurship opportunities.
“We look forward that you progress towards enterprise,” she said.
Meanwhile, Batasan Hills Barangay Captain Jojo Abad, expressed appreciation for the urban agriculture assistance in their community, and committed to support and sustain the project. He added that it is high time for Batasan Hills to be known as an urban agriculture site in the metro.
A planting activity and farm tour in the Batasan Hills Urban Garden were also held as part of the activity last June 24. Selected barangay officials graced this undertaking.
Prior to the official launch, a Ceremonial Signing of the Memorandum of Agreement for the Urban Agriculture Project was held last May in the ATI Central Office with officials of Barangay Batasan Hills and four other partner barangays in Quezon City.
