QUEZON CITY—The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) convened key players in agri-fishery extension to refine the industry’s roadmap and ensure the sound implementation of related policies and strategies.
Selected planning officers and program coordinators from the ATI network, together with officials from the Department of Agriculture’s (DA) National Corn Program, Philippine Rice Research Institute, and Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization, constituted the core group.
Representatives from concerned local government units, state universities and colleges, and farmer organizations were also present to provide insights on extension roadmapping.
Points of discussion include, among others, the identification of priority programs and issues in extension and the overall directions in the implementation of projects and activities for DA's banner programs.
Specifically, the group reviewed existing DA roadmaps and trends in extension. Recommendations for potential initiatives were also discussed, including digital extension on general advisories, tailored consultations, and fully automated farming system.
The crafting of extension roadmap also served as a platform to ensure that extension agents share common goals and vision for the development of the agriculture and fisheries sector.
This activity was held last February 4-7 in this city.
