Nat’l S&T Week Highlights Contributions to SDGs

To highlight the significant contributions of science and technology in national development, the National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) is celebrated every third week of July through Proclamation No. 169 of 1993.

This year's theme, "Science for the People: Enabling Technologies for Sustainable Development," aims to strengthen the latest innovations in technologies, research, and products that help achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

As the country's lead in extension services and training, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) continues to innovate strategies to maximize information and communications technology (ICT). ATI integrates and harmonizes ICT-based extension delivery system for the benefit of the farmers, fishers, and other stakeholders.

Innovations in technology also enable the Institute to effectively and efficiently facilitate training, demonstrations, seminars, and knowledge-transfer activities related to agriculture. ATI also supports Magsasaka Siyentista, successful farmers who have demonstrated successful application of agricultural technologies. They showcase science and technology interventions in their farms and conduct farmer-to-farmer advisory services as part of their role.

The celebration for the 2019 NSTW will be held at the World Trade Center, Pasay City on July 17-21. Admission is free and the exhibits are open to the public from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
