DILIMAN, Quezon City - The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) conducted a fire drill afternoon of October 24 at its central office as part of its organizational safety standards.
Led by the designated safety officers, staff from all ATI units carried their emergency preparedness bags and headed for the evacuation area during the drill.
"In compliance with the fire code of the Philippines, we should conduct two fire drills a year. One of which is announced and another that is not," said Allan Raymond Baldago, one of the safety officers of the ATI.
During the Institute's general assembly held earlier, Baldago briefed the staff on the safety procedures during fire-related disasters. He also emphasized the importance of having the evacuation areas clean and free from obstructions.
The Bureau of Fire Protection and Occupational Safety and Health Center are set to conduct ocular inspection to check if there are areas in the ATI compound that need to be improved in preparation for fire or other disasters. Meanwhile, the scheduled drill is set to be held in December.
