CLARK, Pampanga—Efforts to fully implement the Rice Tariffication Law continues as concerned agencies in the Rice Extension Services Program (RESP), under the law’s Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF), convened for a writeshop for related training modules.

Spearheaded by the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), the writeshop gathered focal persons in training, curriculum writers, and the communications team of the RCEF-RESP Technical Working Group to harmonize training tools, delivery plans, and activities under the program.

Through the activity, training modules on rice crop production, modern rice farming techniques, seed production, and farm mechanization were developed. Participants were also familiarized with their respective roles and responsibilities in relation to RCEF implementation.

The implementing agencies for RCEF-RESP include ATI, Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization, Philippine Rice Research Institute, Bureau of Plant Industry, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Land Bank of the Philippines, and the Development Bank of the Philippines.

In her message during the opening event, ATI-Regional Training Center III Center Director Veronica Esguerra stressed the urgent need for the harmonized training modules to ensure the timely delivery of services intended for the rice farmers under RCEF. The activity was held last August 6-9, 2019.
