DILIMAN, Quezon City – Fill your baskets with a fresh load of farm products this August 17-18, 2017 as the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) opens the second “TienDA Farmers and Fisherfolks Outlet”.

What is TienDA? If you’re familiar with the “farmer’s market” concept, TienDA is the Department of Agriculture’s (DA) version of this kind of marketplace. Simply put, TienDA is a venue for farmers and fishers to be able to directly sell their produce, and for consumers to be able to access these products at its farm gate price.

Launched last July 28-30, 2017 at the Bureau of Plant and Industry (BPI), TienDA is part of the DA’s thrust in making food available and affordable to all Filipinos. Its last run was participated by 90 farmers and farm cooperatives nationwide, and “generated sales [that] reached more than Php1.2M” according to the BPI’s official website.

Many more anticipate its next run, which is set to be participated by 30-50 farmers and fishers from Luzon, including some farmers from ATI Learning Sites. A wide array of fruits, vegetables, dairy, and seafood products will be available for the public to choose from. Gates open from 8am to 5pm.

It gets better as the event will coincide with the ATI’s second AgriTalk on August 18, with topics on growing ornamentals, oyster mushroom, urban gardening, and more. Both events will be held at the ATI Compound, Elliptical Road, Diliman, Quezon City.
