QUEZON CITY, Metro Manila—As the lead in training and extension in agriculture, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) workforce continue to deepen their understanding on the principles and concepts of the industry during the Training Course on Extension Delivery System (EDS).

In the second of the EDS training series, 26 staff from the ATI Central Office and its network of training centers gained new perspective on what extension work is all about.

In turn, they are expected to apply the various approaches, strategies, and methods in serving the clientele and demonstrate effective communication skills as extension agents.

Experts from the University of the Philippines Los Baños, Rowena Baconguis and Andrew Gasmen, served as resource speakers during the activity. They discussed the history, trends and key players, and other technicalities of agricultural extension.

Meanwhile, Antonieta Arceo, chief of the ATI Information Services Division, talked about the role of communication in extension. She also explained the competencies of a good communicator in extension and development.

Led by the ATI Career Development and Management Division, the second training course on EDS was held last July 8-12 in this city. The first of the training series was conducted last June 24-28, while another leg is scheduled on August 12-16.
