QUEZON CITY, Metro Manila—Government agencies and offices showcased their programs and services to the public at the Kabisig Philippine Government Expo and Trade Fair 2018.

With the theme "Pamahalaan at Mamamayan: Kapit-bisig sa Pagbabago at kaunlaran", the event served as a one-stop government information exhibit that featured profiles, services, programs, and accomplishments of the participating agencies.

The expo was conducted in two batches with the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) joining the second leg. During the opening program, Kabisig People's Movement president Daniel Guillen mentioned the importance of events like this to government agencies in reaching out to the people.

"We want to gather government offices and agencies to promote their services to the people. This event allows them to inform the people what their current services are, how these can be availed, and how to reach them," Guillen explained.

The ATI took part in the three-day expo by handing out free information, education, and communication materials on agriculture and fisheries and promoting its different services. ATI Officer-in-Charge Director Luz Taposok shared the efforts being done by the Institute to help local farmers and fishers like free seminars, information caravans, and provision of technical assistance on urban gardening.

"As the training and extension arm of the Department of Agriculture, we have different programs which as centered on helping our farmers and fishers especially in the rural areas. Likewise, we have projects for our clients here in the metro like urban gardening and edible landscaping," Taposok said.

The Kabisig Philippine Government Expo and Trade Fair 2018 was conducted on June 19-21 and July 10-12 in this city.
