Google Services Eyed to Upgrade Training Delivery for AEWs

DILIMAN, Quezon City—The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) is slowly transforming its digital infrastructure for corporate communications and training delivery services with the use of Google applications via G Suite.

G Suite offers a range of cloud-based productivity tools that enable users to communicate and collaborate in real time. It provides business-grade services through custom email, additional cloud storage, 24/7 customer support, and seamless integration of Google apps such as Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Drive, Calendar, and Meet.

This is made possible in partnership with Kollab, a digital transformation advisor and the first Google Cloud/G Suite Premier Partner in the Philippines.

As part of this partnership, training and information officers across the Agricultural Training Institute’s (ATI) network underwent an end-user workshop via Google Meet on June 3 and 10. Kollab’s Head of Training Delivery Mike Yu led the workshop and provided demonstrations in using G Suite applications to share files, hold video conferences, work on documents, and secure data in emails.

With new normal protocols in place, ATI is also eyeing the use of Google Classroom, a virtual environment for learning management which allows trainers and learners connect more easily to complete a coursework. It also enables trainers to create interactive lessons and engage learners with personalized, data-driven learning tools.

“As learning has suddenly shifted from face-to-face to distance learning, the presence of the Google Classroom platform is very much welcome. Google Classroom will help ensure that ATI will be able to continue providing training to our clientele,” Theresa Aurora Cosico, chief of the Training and Curriculum Development Section of ATI’s Career Development and Management Division (CDMD), said.

Cosico shared that they are considering the use of this platform in conducting online learning activities for agricultural extension workers and agriculture professionals in the public sector to ensure their continued career development.

On June 25, training and development management officers from ATI-CDMD underwent another workshop via Google Meet on the use of Google Classroom to share lessons, facilitate discussions, manage assignments, and get feedback, integrating other Google services like Forms, Docs, and Sheets.
