Soil Conservation Month Pushes for Sustainable Agri Development

Recognizing soil and water as important resources for sustainable agricultural development, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) joins the Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM) in the annual observance of June as Soil Conservation Month.

The celebration bears the theme “Let’s Conserve our Soils and Ensure Growth for the Future.” Relevant institutions are encouraged to continuously create awareness and pursue advocacies on conservation, development, and management of soil and water. This can be done through attendance to forums, seminars, trainings, and conduct of tree-planting activities.

As the ATI continuously promotes organic agriculture in the country, the Institute highlights not only the production of safe and clean food, but also its benefits to soil systems. Organic farming practices play an important role in soil erosion control, establishing an ecological balance to prevent soil fertility and pest problems.
