The efforts of the Agricultural Training Institute and Smart Communications, Inc. to empower farmers through mobile and internet literacy was recognized recently at the 18th Philippine Quill Awards.
During the virtual ceremony of ‘Arise: The 18th Philippine Quill Awards’, the DFP received an Excellence Award in the Corporate Social Responsibility category under Communication Management.
In a statement released by the International Association of Business Communicators’ (IABC) Philippines, the lead organizer of Quill Awards, the awardees were congratulated for thriving under the most extraordinary circumstances due to the COVID-19 crisis.
“You have truly risen to this unprecedented challenge of our times, and you have performed a great service to your organization and to the Philippine society. Mabuhay kayong lahat!” IABC noted.
With uncertainties brought on by the pandemic, the DFP became one of the training grounds for the new style of doing things. While pushing for a digitally-inclusive agriculture sector, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) network of training centers and Smart Communications, Inc. ensured that safety of all will be prioritized as well. In this line, both online and face-to-face modes of delivery—with strict regard to health protocols—were implemented.
Since its launch in 2019, the program has conducted 46 batches of its introductory course—DFP 101—capacitating over a thousand farmers and youth on basic digital tools such as smartphone, the internet, and social media.
This year’s winners come from a cross-section of public and private sector organizations, both large and small. With over 800 entries reviewed by esteemed evaluators, each was evaluated using IABC’s highest global standard that measures and determines the finest, the sharpest and the brightest in the business communication industry among professionals as well as students.
Organized by the Philippine chapter of the IABC, the Philippine Quill is considered the country’s most prestigious awards program in the field of business communication. It has been bestowing the seal of approval to the most reputable organizations and corporations in the nation for almost two decades, emphasizing the use of excellent communication to achieve business goals, and to make a difference in society.
The 18th Philippine Quill Awards was held virtually last March 25, 2021.
