Earth Day Campaigns for Protection of Species

The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) joins the Earth Day Network, a nonprofit organization that aims to diversify, educate, and activate environmental movements worldwide, in their campaign to protect threatened and endangered species.

Phenomena driven by humans—such as climate change, deforestation, habitat loss, trafficking and poaching, unstable agriculture, pollution, pesticides, among others—are directly linked to the unprecedented global destruction and rapid reduction of plant and wildlife population. With this, the celebration calls for everyone to work together to protect threatened and endangered species like bees, coral reefs, elephants, giraffes, insects, whales, and more.

Likewise, join the Protect Our Species Campaign by educating and raising awareness about the accelerating rate of extinction of millions of species as well as the causes and consequences of this phenomenon. Greater support for policies that protect species and their habitats is also needed, as well as building and advocating movements that embrace nature and its values. Individual actions such as adopting plant-based diet and stopping pesticide and herbicide use are also being encouraged in light of this campaign.

Currently, the ATI promotes organic agriculture in the Philippines. Through learning and development activities such as training, school-on-the-air, and establishment of Learning Sites, the Institute aims to deepen the understanding of agriculture enthusiasts and consumers on the benefits of organic farming practices in achieving sustainability.
