Planning and project evaluation officers from Central Visayas are assisted by PPD staff in mapping out the interventions implemented under T2-ES22PPP in the region.

DILIMAN, Quezon City—In a technical guidance session led by the Policy and Planning Division (PPD) of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), project officers of “Increasing Agricultural Productivity towards Food Security and Poverty Alleviation: Extension Support to the Twenty Two Provinces with Highest Poverty Incidence in the Philippines” (T2-ES22PPP) convened to review and document the implementation of the program in their respective areas.

Nineteen staff from ATI Regional Training Centers in Cordillera Administrative Region, Regions II, IV-A, MIMAROPA, V, VII, VIII, X, XII, and XIII took part in the activity. Staff from PPD, led by division chief Milagros Urbano, were also present to provide other necessary information especially those in relation
to the results of the program monitoring activity conducted last year.

Meanwhile, Information Services Division chief Antonieta Arceo facilitated a concept mapping activity where the participants identified the goals, objectives, interventions, results, and other relevant information about the program as implemented in the different regions. From the information gathered, the participants came up with focus areas to be developed into case stories.

The focus areas captured were good practices, strategies, and lessons learned by the program implementers, partners, and beneficiaries. This is to showcase achievements and challenges that can serve as opportunities for the improvement of the program and other extension initiatives for agriculture and fisheries.

“Always keep in mind the goals and objectives of the program. These should guide you as you develop your stories,” Arceo stressed as she spoke to the participants.

T2-ES22PPP started in 2017 to support local government units in addressing the needs of farming and fishing communities through appropriate extension interventions. Anchored on the national government’s thrusts on food security and poverty alleviation, it aims to increase the productivity of marginalized agricultural communities in 22 and other selected priority provinces where poverty is a
serious problem.

ATI Director Alfredo Aton and Officer-in-Charge Assistant Director Rosana Mula graced the activity held on March 10-12, 2020 at the ATI Central Office. The participants are expected to convene again for a writeshop in May to complete their stories.
