ATI is certified compliant with data privacy rules.

QUEZON CITY, Metro Manila—With its efforts to support the government’s objectives of accountability, transparency, ethics, and integrity, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) receives recognition from the National Privacy Commission (NPC) as certified compliant with the Data Privacy Act of 2012.

The certification, which is effective until March 8, 2020, signifies that the Institute has successfully complied with the registration requirements of the Republic Act No. 10173 or the Data Privacy Act of 2012, its Implementing Rules and Regulations as well as all related issuances.

The certificate was issued with the official seal of the Commission, in accordance with Section 12 of NPC Circular 17-01, and is signed by NPC Privacy Commissioner and Chairman Raymund Enriquez Liboro.

Initiatives to protect and respect the clients’ and partners’ personal data are continuously being strengthened within the ATI in the implementation of its various training and extension programs and projects.

In April 2017, the ATI, represented by Information Services Division staff Al Camaya and Joeven Calasagsag, participated in the Data Privacy Officers (DPO) 1 Assembly for National Government Agencies. This activity is aimed at acquainting DPOs with their new roles and responsibilities. Furthermore, the assembly stressed the essence of being proactive in conducting their duty as watchdogs and advocates of the data privacy rights of citizens from within the organization.

Another DPO Assembly is set in May 2019 to convene regional DPOs and start rolling data protection nationwide. This leg will be participated by selected information officers from the Institute’s network of training centers.
