Livestock and poultry continue to contribute positively to the Philippine economy. Its commodities, namely, carabao, cattle, goat, swine, chicken, and duck, are seen to grow consistently in the next decades.
Knowing this, farmer-entrepreneur Perlito Montañez of Carrascal, Surigao del Sur maximizes the opportunities in these sectors. In 2016, Montañez started a feed milling business which now caters to the needs of other farmers in the area and is bringing in good income for his family. Merlie Delco from Aklan also has a feed formulation business and uses organic agriculture methods.
