PANUKULAN, Quezon - The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) CALABARZON in partnership with Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) – Los Baños, Bureau of Plant Industry – National Seed Quality Control Services (BPI-NSQCS) and Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) of Panukulan Quezon conducted the 3-day training entitled, “Inbred Rice Seed Multiplication and Distribution Training for Farmers” on May 31 to June 2, 2021 at Brgy. San Juan, Panukulan, Quezon.
Inbred Rice Seed Multiplication and Distribution Training for Farmers aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of farmers on high-quality inbred rice seed production and various rice production technologies. As part of the topic, PalayCheck System introduced rice production concepts and principles and showcased modern irrigated and rainfed rice production and post production technologies along with the best practices shared by Mr. Ferdinand Aguilar and Ms. Jacqueline Canilao of PhilRice Los Baños and AgRiDOC Jonnel Pumares of MAO Panukulan. Ms. Perla Bañez and staff of BPI NSQCS discussed updates on NSQCS, including Mechanics of Seed Certification, Field Inspection, Bagging, Piling, Sampling and Seed Testing.
In the closing program, OIC Assistant Center Director Dr. Rolando V. Maningas and Center Director Marites Piamonte-Cosico expressed their support and gratitude to all the graduates that despite the pandemic and recent typhoon, the participants were all eager to learn and be able to share their learnings to their fellow farmers in their locality.
