The creation of the Province-led Agriculture and Fisheries Extension Center (PAFEC) is vital for the institutionalization of Province-led Agriculture and Fisheries Extension System (PAFES) in all non-pilot areas of CALABARZON. The PAFEC will be composed of various agricultural stakeholders at the provincial level and serve as the operational arm of PAFES.
Realizing the essential role of PAFEC in the establishment of PAFES, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) CALABARZON in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office (DA RFO) IV-A conducted the training entitled, “Organizational Development and Management for PAFEC of Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, and Quezon,” on September 15-16, 2022 in Tanza, Cavite. The activity aimed to build the capacities of its management in order to achieve greater effectiveness in program implementation.
Present during the two-day activity were heads and staff from the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, Office of the Provincial Veterinarian and Provincial Planning and Development Office. A total of 80 Agricultural Extension Workers from the non-pilot provinces participated in the said activity. Dr. John Erinorio M. Perez from the Institute for Governance and Rural Development of University of the Philippines Los Baños, served as resource person on organizational development. He also discussed the topics of mind setting and values formation. Workshop outputs of the participants include proposed organizational structure of PAFEC and terms of reference of the PAFEC stakeholders which were presented on the second day of the activity.
The closing program was graced by Dr. Rolando V. Maningas, OIC Training Center Superintendent II, Ms. Sherylou C. Alfaro, OIC Training Center Superintendent I, of ATI CALABARZON and Engr. Redelliza Gruezo, OIC Chief of Operations of DA RFO IVA. They also provided invaluable suggestions on the workshop outputs of the participants.
