TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite - In support to eradicate the African Swine Fever (ASF) in the region, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) CALABARZON conducted the series of Bantay ASF sa Barangay or BABay ASF virtual trainings on March 16 - 19, 2021. The four-day activity was in close collaboration with the Philippine College of Swine Practitioners (PCSP), Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office, Department of Agriculture – Regional Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (DA-RADDL), Central Luzon State University (CLSU) and Provincial Veterinary Offices.
Some 120 livestock extension workers and 60 private veterinarians / farm managers in CALABARZON participated in the series of trainings. Experts from PCSP, DA-RADDL and CLSU discussed topics on Bantay ASF sa Barangay Program, Biosecurity 101, Biosecurity Assessment and Surveillance, Nanogold Technology, Sample Collection, Storage and Transport for ASF tests and Guidelines on Swine Movement.
Mr. Alfredo S. Aton, Director IV of ATI, graced the opening program and stressed that, “in order to win the fight against ASF, we from the Government and Private sectors must be united and move as one.”
