ATI Upskills AEWs, FL on Organic Swine & Poultry Production

SAN JUAN, Batangas - In support to the goal of enhancing the knowledge and technical capability of the participants on organic-based swine and poultry production, the Agricultural Training Institute – CALABARZON in coordination with the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist conducted the “Training on Organic-based Swine and Poultry Production with Extension Support” at Don Leon Nature Farm. It was held from March 16-18, 2021.

It was participated by 10 Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) and 11 Farmer Leaders (FL) from various municipalities in Batangas Province. Ms. Laura Bihis discussed the topic, “Introduction on Organic Agriculture and its Principles.” Experts from the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian namely Ms. Runelita N. Panganiban, Dr. Noledo Lindog, Ms. Evangeline Bantigue and Mr. Mark Angelo Buhat also served as resource persons.

ATI-CALABARZON Center Director, Ms. Marites P. Cosico together with Partnerships and Accreditation Services Section Chief, Ms. Sherylou C. Alfaro graced the opening program. Lectures on Swine and Poultry Production, Animal Welfare Act, Waste Management, Processing, Food Safety, Ethnoveterinary medicine and common diseases of swine and poultry were carried out as well as the hands-on activities on the preparation of natural feeds and meat processing with emphasis on food safety by the staff of the Provincial Veterinary Office.

One of the participants, Dr. Clodualdo Mortel shared his training experience during the closing program. "Hindi ko akalain na ganito kaganda ang training. Maraming salamat at nakasama ako sa training na ito.
