KAHALAMANAN Intensifies the Promotion of Urban Agriculture

CALAMBA CITY, Laguna – In support to the Plant, Plant, Plant Program or “Ahon Lahat, Pagkaing Sapat (ALPAS) Laban sa Covid-19” program of the Department of Agriculture in ensuring food security and availability, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) CALABARZON initiated the radio broadcast on urban gardening entitled, “Kalahamanan: Kaalaman at Kahalagahan ng Paghahalaman.” Kahalamanan is a two-part radio program to promote urban gardening in the region.

Topics covered the basics of urban gardening including the importance of urban gardening, types of urban garden, factors to consider on urban gardening (space, sunlight, soil, water, crops) and procedures/tips in starting your own urban garden, from soil media preparation to harvesting and postharvest. Ms. Cynthia C. Perez, Agricultural Technologist from Office of the Provincial Agriculturist – Cavite discussed the topics for the two-part radio broadcast.

Kalahamanan: Kaalaman at Kahalagahan ng Paghahalaman, a radio broadcast on urban gardening, aired over Radyo Natin Laguna 106.3 FM and Radyo CALABARZON DZJV 1458 on September 15 and 17, 2020, respectively. Through Kahalamanan, fast access of information was delivered to a wider number of audiences in CALABARZON. Ms. Jamila Monette B. Balmeo, Information Officer II of ATI CALABARZON, hosted the program.
