TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite- The Agricultural Training Institute - Calabarzon and the Municipal Agriculture Office of Noveleta, Cavite conducted the 2nd batch of “Training on Organic Production Technologies” with provision of starter kits.
The activity supports the Plant, Plant, Plant Program of the Department of Agriculture (DA) which aims to increase the country’s food adequacy level during the emergency situation resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic.
To extend the support of the DA RFO IV-A, OA Focal Person Ms. Eda Dimapilis graced the opening program through a video call.
The two-day training gave emphasis on the organic agriculture technologies. Mr. Philip Reyes, an OA consultant, shared his expertise as a resource speaker and discussed various topics on organic farming such as production of bio-organic fertilizer, bokashi, composting, and organic supplements. He also discussed the the benefits of organic vegetables in promoting a healthy lifestyle. These helped the participants understand the concepts and principles of organic agriculture.
Twenty (20) participants composed of farmers and urban gardeners from various communities in Noveleta participated and attended the blended training on organic and expected to apply their learnings in their household.
The training was held at the Municipal Agriculture Office of Noveleta, Cavite last August 25-26, 2020.
