TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite- The Agricultural Training Institute Region (ATI) Calabarzon conducted the first capability training for one of its adopted urban agriculture community.
Seventeen- (17) members of the adopted urban agriculture community, composed of Lakas ng Kababaihan members, Bantay Bayan and Sanguniang Barangay of Lapidario participated in the “Training on Farm Fabrication of Improvised Farm Tool and Equipment” held at DA-ATI Complex, in this city.
After a one-day participative lecture-discussion by one of ATI-IVA Learning Site for Agriculture (LSA) partner for Uma Verde Econature Farm , Mr. Arnel V. Marasigan, the participants had a chance to perform fabrication of different farm tools such as feed scoop, feed through, feed cart, incubator and simple installation of drip irrigation the hands-on sessions to fit the needs of the soon-to-be established urban agriculture garden at Barangay Lapidario.
In her impression, Ms. Ma. Ledelyn Velarde said “Isang malaking opportunity po ang dumating sa aming grupo at sa aming barangay. Dahil sa training na ito, nabigyan ninyo kami ng idea at kaalaman upang magkaroon ng dagdag pangkabuhayan ang aming mga kabarangay. Kahit sa kabila ng pandemic, patuloy ang pagbibigay ng mga kaalamang pangkabuhayan tulad ng training na ito, maraming maraming salamat po.”
The training was held last July 27-30, 2020.
