ATI in CALABARZON brings ‘ATI@Home’

ATI's Extension Service Provider, Mr. Brian Belen of ABF Integrated Farms and Agribusiness Center Inc. demonstrates proper labeling of seeds planted for home container gardens.

More than a thousand agriculture enthusiasts participated in ATI IV-A’s first ever live seminar entitled “ATI@Home: Live Seminar on Container Gardening” through a Facebook Live last April 8, 2020.

In partnership with Brian Belen of ABF Integrated Farms and Agribusiness Center, Inc., ATI IV-A continued to deliver its free seminar to its stakeholders despite the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the country. Agricultural Technologies thru Internet at Home, more commonly known as ATI@Home, is a brainchild activity of the Center which aims to bring agriculture to people’s homes.

Belen on growing one’s food said, “ECQ has given us the time and opportunity to really look at our situation and see how we can do better.”

The first of the series of ATI@Home is about container gardening. Belen discussed the principles of container gardening including location, choice of plants, containers, water management, and soil management. In his demonstration, he mentioned the acronym P.L.A.N.T. which stands for the factors necessary for a successful container gardening. In the last part of the seminar, Belen answered the questions of the viewers regarding the topic.

The Facebook group of the seminar is still active up to this writing as Belen regularly updates the members of the group on various aspects of container gardening.
