TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite- The primary function of the Farmers’ Information and Technology Services (FITS) Center is to provide information and technology services to farmers and stakeholders. Thus, to intensify the promotion, increase the understanding, and appreciation for Organic Agriculture (OA), two (2) FITS Centers in CALABARZON were enhanced under the OA program.
Additionally, the enhancement program aims to improve stakeholders' access to OA-related information, enhance the capability of the FITS Center staff to promote OA and provide related services using ICT tools, improve the capacity of Magsasaka Siyentista (MS) to promote OA technologies to other farmers, and to increase the capacity of FITS Center staff to document success stories on OA.
FITS Centers in San Pablo City, Laguna and Tayabas City, Quezon received Information and Communications Technology (ICT) tools such as laptop and camera to enhance the documentation of OA practices.
Also part of the activity was the mentoring of FTIS staff on the video documentation of OA practitioners and farmers.
The FITS Centers are expected to develop success story, IEC materials and promotional materials relative to OA.
