LIPA CITY, Batangas - The 2nd National Livestock and Poultry Technology Expo alongside with Livestock Roadmaps Stakeholder Forum was held at the DA- Southern Tagalog Integrated Agricultural Research Center (STIARC) in this city.
The activity was formally opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony, participated by Lipa City Mayor, Eric Africa, ATI Director Alfredo S. Aton, and other notable guests from DA National Livestock Program, DA ATI IV-A, DA RFO IV-A, and ATI-ITCPH who also gave their utmost support to the livestock and poultry sector. With the theme "Masaganang Kita sa Makabagong Teknolohiya," various livestock and poultry product displays ranging from food to information services were among the highlights of the said activity.
Later in the afternoon, a plenary session on Loan Program, Livestock Insurance Program, and "Batangas Pork" Biosecurity, Traceability and Branding was held. This was followed by simultaneous break-out sessions on swine, poultry, and dairy sector.
For the swine session, the topics discussed were: (1) Best Practices on Sustainable Pig Farming, (2) Feednovation - Propagation, Production, and Processing of Alternative Feedstuff, (3) AI sa Barangay, and (4) Marketing Pork Meat. For the poultry session, there were (1) Itik Pinas Production, (2) Pasturized and Powder Egg, and (3) Utilization of Black Soldier Fly (BSF) for Waste Conversion into Animal Feeds. Lastly, dairy session talked about (1) Goat Production, (2) Milking Program of National Dairy Authority, and (3) Milking Program of PCC.
This activity held last November 29, 2019 culminated with field tours at BEPCO/Kahariam Farms for poultry and BADACO/ Tanauan Triple A Slaughterhouse for swine and dairy.
