Farmer’s Forum Promote Climate Resilient Technologies

Batangas City, Batangas - A total of 380 farmers and fishers from Batangas province, Magsasaka Siyentista (MS) and staff of Farmers’ Information and Technology Service (FITS) Centers in CaLaBaRZon attended the Farmer’s Forum on Climate Information System (CIS) held at Batangas State University (BatStateU) - Main in this city.

The one-day Farmer’s Forum aimed to promote and showcase the science-based technologies and management in farming focusing on climate resilient technologies and practices adapted by the 14 MS.

The forum started with a plenary session on farm weather services of Department of Science and Technology (DOST) - Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA). Meanwhile, the breakout sessions on rice, integrated farming, and climate smart facility were discussed by the MS.

One of the highlights of the activity was the signing of Memorandum of Understanding between the Center, province of Batangas, and BatStateU on the implementation of Techno Gabay Program (TGP) in the province.

Anchored to its theme, “Makabagong Teknolohiya sa Pagsasaka, Kahandaan sa Pagbabago ng Klima,” the Center strengthens its efforts to enhance the access of the farmers, fishers, and other stakeholders to relevant and up-to-date information related to climate. The activity was held last November 21, 2019 as part of Techno Gabay Program (TGP) Summit 2019.
