CALATAGAN, Batangas- In support to the continuous effort of the Department of Agriculture to provide farmers with quality inputs to help augment their livelihood in the backyard setting, the Agricultural Training Institute IV-A under the National Livestock Program launched its first “Artificial Insemination (AI) sa Barangay” at Barangay Biga in this municipality.

Present during the launching were ATI IV-A Ms. Marites Piamonte-Cosico, Provincial Veterinarian of Batangas Dr. Rommel Marasigan,Municipal Agriculture Officer (MAO) for Livestock of Calatagan Mr. Jun A. Bayaborda, and Executive Assistant to the Mayor of Calatagan Mr. Glenn Ayatona.

The highlight of the program was the ribbon cutting of the AI center and the promotion of the program to the barangay and nearby communities as possible beneficiaries of the program.

"AI sa Barangay" is one of the interventions of the National Livestock Program designed to provide quality and accessible swine semen for the backyard hog farmers in the barangay.

The activity was held last June 6, 2019.
