ATI RTC IV-A's farm tourism intitatives shared to farm owners

Ms. Sherylou Alfaro shares ATI IV-A's farm tourism initiatives through extension modalities.

SILANG, Cavite - Chief of the Partnerships and Accreditation Services Section (PASS), Ms. Sherylou Alfaro shared the Center's efforts in accrediting farms geared towards farm tourism.

Alfaro was invited by the ISST (International School of Sustainable Tourism) Philippines to talk about ATI's ladderized approach in evaluating farms to become Learning Sites, Schools for Practical Agriculture (SPA), and Extension Service Providers (ESP). As ATI's extension partners, they serve as training ground of participants for the demonstration component. This also helps promote their farm to other agriculture enthusiasts and the public, thereby attracting more tourists in the farm.
Her discussion also included a video presentation of the DOT-accredited farms that are certified extension partners of the Center: (3) National ESP, (2) Regional ESP, (1) SPA, and (15) LS.

The speaking engagement was part of ISST's three-day intensive training course offering to farm owners, landowners, farm enthusiasts, and urban and rural planners, among others, which focuses on marketing, financing, and farm tourism. It was held last February 28, 2019 at the ISST Bldg. James Yen Center, in this municipality.
