Free Seminar on Mushroom Production Caters to Farming Enthusiasts

BATANGAS CITY, Batangas- A total of 195 participants from the province, Metro Manila and nearby provinces attended the third leg of ATI IV-A’s Free Seminar series, focused on Mushroom Production. The participants were farmers and farming enthusiasts.

Ms. Laura L. Bihis, Senior Agriculturist from the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) - Batangas led the opening program. The one-day seminar highlighted the production technology and process in growing mushroom. The participants gained basic knowledge from practitioner and Agricultural Technologist, Mr. Ronald B. Balmes from the Quezon Agricultural Experiment Station (QAES). Mr. Balmes compared the characteristics of edible and poisonous mushroom, its importance and benefits. Moreover, the participants had an opportunity to make their own fruiting bags. Ms. Marites Piamonte-Cosico, Center Director of ATI CaLaBaRZon.

The free seminar on Mushroom Production was held at the OCVAS, Batangas City, Batangas on September 11, 2018. This coming October, the team is coming to the provinces of Quezon and Rizal to educate farmers and agriculture enthusiasts on Beekeeping and Urban Agriculture, respectively.
