CANDELARIA, Quezon - In the persistent effort to provide capacity enhancement to Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs), the Agricultural Training Institute - Regional Training Center IV-A (ATI-RTC IVA) takes its part in establishing mechanisms to upgrade their skills and competencies on Organic Agriculture through development of competitiveness in their field of expertise.
The Center conducted the third batch of Organic Agriculture Competency Training in one of its Learning Sites, Uma Verde Econature Farm in Candelaria, Quezon. The activity aimed to enhance the skills, technical capability, and competencies of AEWs by acquiring a National Certificate (NCII) on Organic Agriculture Production (OAP).
Various topics on Organic Agriculture including the Philippine National Standards on Organic Agriculture (PNS on OA), core competencies and elective competency comprised the lectures. Among the hands-on activities included were preparations of different concoctions that conform to standards stipulated at PNS on OA. The lectures were carried out by Ms. Edelissa A. Ramos, farm owner.
A total of 28 energetic, dedicated and vibrant agricultural extension workers from Cavite, Batangas and Laguna took part in the activity. It was held last August 14 - 17, 2018 in this municipality.
