SAN ANDRES, Quezon – To provide more productive and interactive learning, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) CaLaBaRZon in partnership with the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) – Quezon initiated the meet & greet session with the learners of School on Air (SOA) on High Value Crops (HVC) dubbed as “Unlad Saka: Isang Radyo Eskwela Para sa Bondoc Peninsula.” Some 50 farmers from different barangays in San Andres, Quezon participated in the one-day activity on August 3, 2018.
“Napakaganda ng nilalayon ng programang Unlad Saka. Malaking tulong sa ating magsasaka upang ang kanilang matututunan dito ay mai-apply nila upang lubos na umunlad ang kanilang pagsasaka dito sa San Andres,” expressed by Mr. Rolly delos Santos, Officer-in-Charge, as he welcomed the participants. At the start of the program, Dr. Rolando V. Maningas, Information Services Chief of ATI CaLaBaRZon, oriented the students with the overview of the activity. Line-up of activities were enjoyed and shared including lecture, question and answer, games and raffles to acquaint learners and deliver additional information to them. Mr. Joel M. Alpay, from OPA – Quezon and one of the radio teachers, discussed Food Safety and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) as review. In this way, participants were able to personally ask questions and clarifications about the topic. Raffles, sponsored by the Agricultural Program Coordinating Officer (APCO) and OPA in Quezon, like fertilizers, sprayer and seedlings were also distributed to boost more fun and excitement.
Meet & greet session is one of the innovations of ATI CaLaBaRZon particularly on SOA HVC. The meet & greet in San Andres is first among the three leg sessions. The succeeding two meet & greet are scheduled on August 31, 2018 and September 27, 2018 in Macalelon and Buenavista, respectively. Unlad Saka: Isang Radyo Eskwela Para sa Bondoc Peninsula is aired every Friday, 12:00 nn until 1:00 pm, through Radyo Natin BonPen 102.5 FM.
