ATI CaLaBaRZon, Persistent In Reinforcing AEWs and Farmer-Leaders

LOS BAÑOS, Laguna - The Agricultural Training Institute CaLaBaRZon, working side by side with five corn specialists from Region IV-A is still setting the bars high to produce the best corn AEWs and farmer-leaders in the region. The team started facilitating and training 25 corn Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) and Farmer-Leaders on June 18, 2018 for the Season-Long Training for Integrated Crop Management for Corn. It will be the 5th batch of Corn Trainers for the ATI Region Training IV-A.

The 25 participants from various offices and farms in Region IV-A completed the first phase of the training last June 27, 2018.

In Phase I, which ran from June 18 to June 27, 2018 (10 Days Intensive Training), the participants were presented different techniques and processes on Integrated Crop Management and Pest Management for Corn. Not only this, they were also trained on Personal Development to help them in socializing and facilitating their Farmers' Field School [Phase II].

Phase II with three-day weekly training sessions every Wednesday to Friday will start on July 4 to October 19, 2018. Special topics on corn and cassava production, hands-on activities, FFS, farm business development, team-building activities and interpersonal development will be discussed in this phase. Continuous hardwork and dedication from the facilitators and participants will surely help make the flow of the training smooth and successful.
