TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite- In support to Magna Carta for Women and campaign to end Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC), the Agricultural Training Institute Region IV-A in collaboration with Erasto Films spearheaded a five-day film screening activity entitled "Boses ng Kabataan at Kababaihan."

For 10 years, the film Boses addresses violence in children through the story of a 7-year old boy named "Onyok" and his abusive father. The film had been screened to government and non-government organizations such as churches, schools, and some Regional Training Centers of ATI.

The activity was attended by some 500 members of 4H and Rural Improvement Club (RIC), farmers, Municipal and City GAD Focal persons, and staff of Provincial Agriculture Office to strengthen their awareness on VAWC and to promote and encourage them to exercise their role as concerned citizens.

“In this movie, we’ve seen the character of Choleng, who has the shortest appearance but the most important role in this movie. Without her, Onyok would have been abused by his father for a long time or the worst scenario is he might have died,” Mr. Erben B. Cardiente of Erasto Films on stereotyping concerned citizen as tsismosa or pakialamera.

After the film screening, a resource speaker from Erasto Films discussed VAWC in relation to movie.

The activity was conducted in the five provinces of Region IV-A last June 18-22, 2018.
