TANZA, Cavite – With up-to-date version of 2.21, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) CaLaBaRZon facilitated the Rice Crop Manager (RCM) briefing with the assistance from the Municipal Agriculture Office of Tanza, Cavite on May 29, 2018. Some 50 rice farmers from different barangays in the said municipality received RCM personalized crop management recommendations.
RCM is a web-based application tool which provides irrigated and rainfed lowland farmers with site and farmer-specific recommendations. It can be accessed through laptop, smart phones and tablet. During the orientation, Mr. Hans Flores, Agriculturist I of ATI CaLaBaRZon, provided the overview and discussion on RCM. He demonstrated the use and operation of RCM through actual interview with one of the farmer-participants. Data results were saved thru RCM Model. Afterwards, one-page recommendation was immediately generated and handed. Split session followed after the demonstration. Participants were individually interviewed based on their farming practices. Each one of them received printed RCM recommendation, which will serve as a guideline in their next cropping season.
RCM briefing in Tanza, Cavite is the 3rd among the briefings conducted in the first semester. A total of six RCM briefings are targeted this year. RCM aims to enrich rice farming productivity and profitability.
