BATANGAS CITY, Batangas – To disseminate a wider reach of information in agriculture and fisheries, the Agricultural Training Institute Regional Training Center in CaLaBaRZon participated during the Department of Agriculture (DA) Information Caravan dubbed as “Agrikultura Para sa Pagbabago”. Farmers and Fishermen in CaLaBaRZon region attended the one-day activity on January 31, 2018 at the Provincial Sports Complex, Brgy. Sta. Rita, Batangas City, Batangas.
“Ang pakay po ng ating aktibidad ay mapalawak ang kaalaman sa credit, technology, marketing at sa marami pa pong bagay. Ang Kagawaran ng Pagsasaka ay naghahanap ng pamamaraan para mas mapabuti natin ang ating pagsasaka. Patuloy nating mapaunlad ang ating kabuhayan. Maiparating ang tamang serbisyo, tamang impormasyon at tamang pagpapahalaga sa ating mga kababayan. Ito pong mga impormasyon na ito ay ating isama pagbalik sa ating mga bahay, sa ating mga kababayan para malaman rin nila kung anong natutunan nating ngayong araw,” message delivered by Engr. Arnel V. De Mesa, Regional Executive Director of DA Regional Field Office (RFO) IV-A, during the opening ceremony. Other distinguished guests also graced the program including Mr. Milo delos Reyes, Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Regional Technical Director for Operations of DA RFO IV-A; Mr. Pablito Balantac, Provincial Agriculturist of Batangas; and Ms. Cheryl Suarez, Chief of DA Agriculture and Fisheries Information Division. Hon. Hermilando I. Mandanas, Governor of Batangas Province, also arrived at the latter part of the activity. As part of the information caravan, technical experts from different fields were invited as resource speakers. They presented and discussed topics on rice, credit, marketing and marketing to name a few. Booths showcasing the participating agencies' services, programs and promotional paraphernalia were displayed.
The Center distributed a total of 8,400 various Information, Education and Communications materials on rice, corn, high value crops, organic agriculture, etc. Different sectors in Agriculture, local government, farmers’ association and teachers grabbed copies of IEC materials. Moreover, e-Learning program of ATI was promoted and accessed by the guests and visitors including farmers and fishermen.
The information caravan “Agrikultura Para sa Pagbabago” featured lecture, open forum and booth display. It aims to teach and guide the participants in their daily agricultural activities.
