Expanding Farmers’ Information Technology Service (FITS) Center in Batangas and Quezon Province

TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite - To enhance the access of the stakeholders in AFE knowledge products and services, the Center together with the Local Government Unit of Rosario, Batangas and Candelaria, Quezon launched the Farmers’ Information Technology Service (FITS) Center last January 17 and 30, 2018, respectively.

FITS Center is one of the components of the Techno-Gabay Program (TGP) which primarily aims to disseminate and provides fast access to information and technologies in forms appropriate to the clients’ needs. It also delivers information services such as provision of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC), access to information and technologies through internet, information inquires through SMS, and exhibit of new technologies and products.

Farmers, students, entrepreneurs, and other clients can also avail trainings; technology consultancy and technical assistance; linkage to experts, financial institutions, input suppliers and market; and may request quality planting materials and animal stocks. Also, part of the function of FITS Center is value adding service such as product packaging and labelling; food safety and handling; and S&T support services to enterprise development. The Center also provided the newly established FITS Centers with Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials and a catalytic fund.

The highlight of the program was the MOA signing of ATI IV-A and the LGU, unveiling of FITS Billboard, and awarding of check.

Today, the Center has established 50 FITS Center in the region and a target of six (6) FITS establishment for 2018.
