Farmers’ Field School On Sustainable Pig Farming (FFSSPF) Provincial Mass Launching Kicks-off

STA. CRUZ, Laguna- Equipped with the drive to reach out to more swine farmers from the Calabarzon Region, the ATI-Region IVA in coordination with the Provincial Veterinarian of Laguna kicks-off the series of Mass Launching at the Time Plaza, Provincial Capitol, Sta. Cruz, Laguna on November 15,2017.

Almost 150 farmers from the municipalities of Alaminos, Famy, Mabitac and Pagsanjan attended the activity joined by their facilitators from the Municipal Agriculture Office.The Mass launching was graced by Governor Ramil L. Hernandez who shared that “ Alam ninyo po ba na isa sa mga pinangtaguyod po ng aking tatay sa amin ang pag aalaga po ng baboy, Masaya po ako na kayo ay naglaan ng oras na umatend ng aktibidad na ito . Tayo po sa Laguna ay gumagawa ng intervention na makakatulong sa ating mga kababayan. Kaya naman po lahat ng mga programa na para sa ikabubuti at ika aangat ng ating mga kababayan ay atin pong sususportahan.” . To seal off the activity, a signing of pledge of commitment served as one of the highlights of the event.

The Farmer’s Field School on Sustainable Pig Farming (FFS SPF) was an improved technology and extension modality of the Agricultural Training Institute- International Training Center on Pig Husbandry (ATI-ITCPH) which was adopted by ATI-Region IVA within the CaLaBaRZon. The FFS SPF aims to enhance provide an alternative, sustainable and affordable swine raising technology for commercial and backyard swine farmers. The program will run for 16-20 weeks and this is an additional intervention that was requested from the Tier 2 Proposal-based Program.
