MARAGONDON, Cavite- To enhance the knowledge and skills of farmer-leaders, senior citizens, and Barangay Health Workers (BHW) and acquaint them with the DOH-approved medicinal plants and culinary herbs, the Terra Verde Ecofarm in partnership with DA Agricultural Training Institute Region IV-A spearheaded a training on Discovering Health and Wellness from Nature.
The said training was the first capability training of Terra Verde Ecofarm as a Private Extension Service Provider of DA ATI IV-A. It was designed to provide training participants with the knowledge on the RA No. 8423 or the Traditional and Alternative Medicine Act of 1997. The participants were introduced to DOH-approved medicinal plants and culinary herbs as part of naturopathy and the promotion of the alternative healthcare and wellness for our farmers and their families in the countryside.
The program also promoted the value of safe food production through natural farming and learning about food that heals and food that harms, a key to understanding the role of diet in healthcare and wellness. The training envisioned to empower the local community health and wellness stakeholders, farmer leaders and senior citizens, and alleviate the quality of life in cost-friendly and safe way, thus contributing to social improvement and poverty alleviation in our agricultural communities.
The target participants came from different barangay health centers in Maragondon and Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo, Cavite. Representative of the participants commended the quality of the training service that Terra Verde Ecofarm has provided to them.
“Napakalaking pakinabang ang pag-attend ng seminar na ito kasi yung mga nasa tabi-tabi nating halaman na hindi natin pinapansin yun pala ay pagkain natin at medicine. Nung na-share ko yung aking mga natutunan, excited sila na ibigay ko daw sa kanila yung notes ko at yung mga halaman ay bigyan ko din sila, sabi ko wag silang mag-alala hihingi ako doon” said the participant.
The training was held on August 16-18, 2017 at Terra Verde Ecofarm, Km. 89 Alfonso-Maragondon Road, Pantihan 2, Maragondon, Cavite.
