CRA farm families see opportunities in farm wastes

CALATAGAN, Batangas - Corn and sugarcane are two of the most important crops in this municipality, with one-third of farmers, depending on corn and sugarcane as their major source of livelihood. However, due to traditional farming practices on harvesting, farmers are used to burn corn and sugarcane by-products; thus, contributing to the effects of greenhouse gases.

Pitogo farmers to train on organic agriculture

PITOGO, Quezon- To enhance the knowledge and skills of the farmers in Pitogo, Quezon on organic agriculture, the Agricultural Training Institute Region IV-A together with the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist of Quezon and Local Government of Pitogo through the Municipal Agriculture Office launched the Farmers' Field School (FFS) on Integrated Diversified Organic Farming System (IDOFS).
