Livelihood opportunities explored in meat processing seminar

TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite - The Agricultural Training Institute - Regional Training Center IV-A once again spearheaded a free seminar to all interested individuals in Region IV-A who are on the lookout for livelihood opportunities.

Students, farmers and enthusiasts from different cities and municipalities in CALABARZON and Metro Manila flocked to ATI RTC IV-A Training Complex for the one-day learning opportunity on Basic Meat Processing.

Ms. Marjo P. Mojica, an expert from the Provincial Veterinary Office of Cavite, stressed the criteria in choosing a good quality of meat. She also demonstrated the process of making longganisa, pork tapa, pork tocino and corned pork.

A second-time attendee of ATI’s free seminar, Mr. Librado Guarin from General Trias, Cavite sees the importance of attending the seminar in his journey towards leading a healthier life.

“Simula po nung ako ay naging pasyente dahil nagkasakit ako sa puso ay naging aware na ako sa kakainin ko. Kaya naman nang makita ko ito at para malaman ko dahil gusto ko naman kumain ng meat, gusto ko din naman kumain ng longganisa,” he shares.

Through the seminar, Guarin learned how to prepare a healthier version of the processed meat products. “Ako po ay nagpapasalamat at nandito ako ngayon na maraming natutunan sa Basic Meat Processing at maisasakatuparan ko din na makakakain na ako katulad nung iba,” he added.

This free seminar is part of the Center’s thrust in providing learning opportunities and income-generating activities that require minimal capital. It was held on April 23, 2019 at ATI RTC IV-A Training Complex in this city.
