RCM enhanced FITS Centers ready for Rice Advisory Services

CALAMBA CITY, Laguna - A total of 30 representatives from the Rice Crop Manager (RCM) Farmers’ Information and Technology Services (FITS) Centers and OPA in the region completed the “Regional Training of Trainers on Rice Advisory Services” held from April 21 to 24, 2019 at Dona Jovita Garden Resort in this city.

The activity aimed to the further enhance their capacity to operate, use and train others on the upgraded RCM Rice Advisory Service. The training utilized lectures, workshops, plenary discussions, farm visit and farmer interviews. The outputs of this training include 12 farmer’s RCM field ID, 14 RCM filed recommendations and measurement of 9.4216 hectares of field using GPS.

Dr. Alexandra Jamoralin led the pool of resource persons from the DA Regional Field Office IV-A Rice Program while Ms. Jeck dela Torre and Ms. Jo Ann Holly Torres from IRRI attended the field exercises at Barangay Burol, Calamba City.

The trainers will fully implement these services this coming rice season.
