Exceeding the Expectation: More than 500 Learners Graduate from School on Air on High Value Crops

CATANAUAN, Quezon – “Marami akong natutunan sa mga paksa at aralin na tinalakay ng radyo titser at lahat ng ito ay aking ia-apply sa aking lupang sakahan,” sincerely expressed by Ms. Rosie Luzon, a graduate from Macalelon, Quezon during the culminating activity of School on Air (SOA) on High Value Crops (HVC) known as Unlad Saka: Isang Radyo Eskwela para sa Bondoc Peninsula. Unlad Saka is a distance learning program of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) CaLaBaRZon in collaboration with the Provincial Government of Quezon through its Office of the Provincial Agriculturist.

More than the expected graduates, a total of 584 learners from the 12 municipalities of Bondoc Peninsula in Quezon province marched with pride during the graduation ceremony of Unlad Saka. Guests from Office of the Provincial Agriculturist – Quezon, Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office (DA RFO) IV-A and local government of respective municipality showed strong support as the graduates received their certificate of training. Top students in each municipality were awarded as “Natatanging Mag-aaral”. They received medal, certificate of recognition and token. Criteria were based from the results of exams and recommendations of coordinators.

To acknowledge the efforts of program partners in the success of Unlad Saka, coordinators, radio teachers, host and radio station received certificate of appreciation. Through their untiring assistance and valuable contributions, Office of the Municipal Agriculturists were honored with plaque of recognition. Intermission number of selected learners from Catanauan, Macalelon and San Francisco as well as raffle draws in between program spice up the excitement of the crowd.

Graduates gathered at the Municipal Covered Court, Catanauan, Quezon on November 16, 2018 to celebrate the completion and success of Unlad Saka. “Sana hindi pa ito ang huli ng pagbibigay kaalaman sa magsasaka. Sana lumaganap at madagdagan pa ang pag-aaral sa iba’t ibang pananim,” addressed by Elmer Sanchez, one of the graduates from Catanauan, Quezon.

Unlad Saka: Isang Radyo Eskwela para sa Bondoc Peninsula aired over Radyo Natin BonPen 102.5 FM from July 13, 2018 to October 12, 2018, Friday, 12:00 nn – 1:00 pm. Twenty two (22) lessons with focused on cacao, calamansi, yam and banana were discussed in the 14 weeks airing of the program.
