INFANTA, Quezon - 15 owners of Department of Tourism (DOT)-accredited resorts, hotels, apartelles and tourism sites completed the two-day “Training on Organic Vegetable Production and Container Gardening Batch 1.”

The activity is a collaborative extension project of ATI Calabarzon with LGU Infanta, Quezon, participated by owners of Department of Tourism (DOT)-accredited businesses where operations were greatly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The training takes part as a rehabilitation and recovery project (Agri-Cool-Turismo) for the tourism accommodation establishments and sites in Infanta, Quezon that aims to provide assistance by incorporating agricultural activities such as establishing organic or backyard farms, mini herbal and vegetable garden that may also become supplementary livelihood, source of income and tourist attraction.

Mr. Angelo Jhon Aquino, Agricultural Extension Worker of the Municipal Agriculture Office of Infanta served as Resource Person during the training. Topics discussed include, principles and practice of organic vegetable production, Vermicomposting, container gardening practices and hands-on demonstration in preparation of various natural concoctions.

Municipal Agriculturist, Ms. Eda M. Mendoza and Tourism Officer II Ms. Ma. Sierra Cecilia Penamante graced the opening program and showed their support to the activity and the project.

Likewise, Ms. Marites Piamonte-Cosico, Center Director of ATI Calabarzon congratulated the participants in completing the training. She also hope that the knowledge and skills gained, and the starter kits provided to them aid in successful recovery from the effects of the pandemic and contribute to food security in their community.
