MACALELON, Quezon – To amplify the knowledge on cultivation and production focused on cacao, yam, calamansi and banana, learners of Unlad Saka: Isang Radyo Eskwela Para sa Bondoc Peninsula converge for the 2nd meet & greet session. Some 50 farmers and senior high school students from Macalelon, Quezon actively engaged in the activity.
“Sana kapaki-pakinabang sa bawat isa sa atin yung matututunan dito sa Radyo Eskwela,” cited by Ms. Rosemarie Salagubang, Agricultural Technologist, at the start of the program. Dr. Rolando V. Maningas, Information Officer III of ATI CaLaBaRZon, briefed the participants on School on Air (SOA) on High Value Crops (HVC) particularly Unlad Saka. Subsequently, Dr. Maningas prepared collaborative learning exercise as a review of the previous lessons aired in the program. Student from Olongtao National High School remained the last woman standing and received squash seeds. Afterwards, Ms. Leonilyn D. Castones, radio teacher from Office of the Provincial Agriculturist – Quezon, lectured on banana farming. She discussed the process of planting and management of banana, from seed to harvesting and storage. Also, selected learners received vermicompost, sprayer, various seeds and seedlings in a raffle draw.
Unlad Saka: Isang Radyo Eskwela Para sa Bondoc Peninsula is a SOA on HVC program of ATI CaLaBaRZon which aims to disseminate information on a wider scale of audience on a specific topic through radio, television and other Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools.
